Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative (CCFRI)

Automatic fee reduction for all enrolled families

The Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative (CCFRI) is a provincially funded program that provides funds directly to eligible, licensed child care providers to reduce and stabilize child care costs for families. As a licensed facility, our schools participate in CCFRI — meaning your child automatically receives the fee reduction upon enrollment. Parents do not need to apply separately for this benefit. Savings of up to $900 per month per child are applied directly to your tuition. This benefit can be combined with the Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB) and other subsidies for even greater savings.

Eligibility

  • Child is enrolled in a licensed, participating child care facility (including our schools)
  • No separate application required — the reduction is automatic
  • Available for children from birth through school age
  • Subsidy amount is based on child's age and care type, not family income

Estimated Benefit

Up to $900/month per child (automatic)

BC Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB)

Provincial subsidy for licensed child care

The Affordable Child Care Benefit is a monthly subsidy from the Province of British Columbia that helps eligible families with the cost of licensed child care. Families with a household income below $111,000 may qualify for up to $1,250 per child per month, depending on income, family size, and the type of care. This benefit can be applied directly to tuition at our schools, as both Lions Gate Montessori and Petite Girafe Montessori Academy are licensed child care providers.

Eligibility

  • Child is 0–12 years old and attends a licensed child care facility
  • Family resides in British Columbia
  • Household income is below $111,000 per year
  • Parent or guardian is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or holds a valid work/study permit

Estimated Benefit

Up to $1,250/month per child (income-dependent)

Métis Child Care Benefit Program

Additional support for Métis families in BC

The Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) offers the Métis Child Care Benefit Program to provide additional financial support on top of the provincial ACCB. This program is available to families who are MNBC citizens and are enrolled in licensed or registered child care. The supplement is calculated at a daily rate, up to a maximum of $12.50 per child per day for licensed preschool programs. This benefit can be stacked with the ACCB to further reduce your out-of-pocket child care costs.

Eligibility

  • Must be a Métis Nation BC (MNBC) citizen
  • Child must be enrolled in licensed or registered child care
  • Family must be receiving the BC Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB)
  • Must reside in British Columbia

Estimated Benefit

Up to $12.50/day per child (supplement to ACCB)

Indigenous Early Learning & Child Care (IELCC)

Federal framework supporting Indigenous families

The Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care (IELCC) Framework is a collaborative initiative between the Government of Canada and Indigenous peoples to ensure all Indigenous children have access to high-quality, culturally appropriate early learning and child care. In British Columbia, the BC Aboriginal Child Care Society (BCACCS) provides leadership and oversight for IELCC capacity development. First Nations, Inuit, and Métis families may access additional child care funding and culturally grounded programming through their community or regional organizations.

Eligibility

  • First Nations, Inuit, or Métis families
  • Child is in early learning or child care
  • Eligibility and benefits vary by community and regional organization
  • Contact your local Indigenous community organization for specific details

Canada Child Benefit (CCB)

Federal tax-free monthly payment for families

The Canada Child Benefit is a tax-free monthly payment from the federal government to help eligible families with the cost of raising children under 18 years of age. While not specific to child care, the CCB provides significant financial support that many families use to offset education and child care expenses. The amount is based on your family's net income, the number of children, and their ages. Families with a net income under $36,502 receive the maximum benefit.

Eligibility

  • You live with a child who is under 18 years of age
  • You are primarily responsible for the care and upbringing of the child
  • You are a resident of Canada for tax purposes
  • You or your spouse/common-law partner is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person

Estimated Benefit

Up to $7,787/year per child under 6; $6,570/year per child aged 6–17
